2014: Interesting Already!

16 Feb

2014, we are two months in and you are interesting already~

I turned 40 and it feels just like 39…except for a couple of new gray hairs.

photo-806

I got a mini pony, his name is Tater. Every morning, when he sees me coming out of the house, he gallops across the pasture to say “Hi” and also to find out if I have a carrot in my pocket. He is a noble steed.

photo-807

I finally got a vintage sofa. It has pink and white stripes and carved roses. What else do I need to say.

photo-809

I made candy glass for a Frozen birthday cake for my daughter without a candy thermometer and it turned out PERFECT and I didn’t burn off any skin with the 300 degree sugar. Will never be able to repeat that victory.

candy glass

I  also made a Rodarte celestial hair clip, now I can pretend to be a supermodel! You can buy an original for $600.00 or make one for $10.00. Your choice.

2

Might I suggest the cheaper route, here’s what you need :photo-821

Small and large stars, a hair clip or comb, gold wire, and some gold spray paint. There are some videos and tutorials out there, just Google DIY Rodarte Clip, but I kinda just winged it when I did mine.

Spray paint your stars , cut long pieces of wire, alternate wrapping the wire around large and small stars, attach to hair clip or comb in whatever way looks good to you. Easy peezy and super chic!

Got some awesome gold Art Craft cat eyeglasses from the 50s. Just need to have my prescrip put in them and I will be able to see T.V. again.

photo-815

We just had a freakish ice storm, followed by days of power loss and then we had an earthquake. Which one of you slapped a curse on S.C. {fess up now and we’ll go easy on ya}. I almost burnt my house down trying to cook in my fireplace. I don’t like pioneering.

Besides my normal mama and wife duties, I’ve also been standing out in the freezing cold at Estate Sales treasure hunting for my Etsy shop. Fun Stuff.

Things I’ve recently purchased:

purchase

Bacon tee from Old Navy, bracelet from Dillards, fancy shirt from one of those stores at the mall that you never bothered to know the name of ???? and some root concealer from Sephora, you did see that I turned 40, this stuff works, sister.

Latest food addiction:

Candied bacon, I think I had a dream about it. Good thing I have associated guilt with my bacon consumption or I’d be a real porker. {haha} Yes, I went there.

I have yet to start the healthy eating phase of 2014.

Its gonna be a good year.

How’s it going for you?

Two Cents Tuesday: Michael Kors Handbags

14 Jan

It was all over, I sat on the floor surrounded by a sea of open boxes and a blanket of torn wrapping paper, admiring my Christmas stash, when my husband suddenly appears around the corner holding a very large gold box, “we forgot one”, he said.

Say what! Get out of town….. the Michael Kors name could plainly be seen, wow-wasn’t expecting that. We just recently got a Michael Kors store at our mall and it was quite the talk of the town.

photo-790

I open up the box which contained a felt bag with a very large brown Hamilton bag in it. Impressive and beautiful.

photo-791

I am usually not the kind of girl who buys expensive bags, they are a “nice to have, but don’t need” in my book.

After the sticker shock wears off, I get super jazzed about my new bag.

A couple of days after Christmas, I load up the bag and we were off to mall.

The first thing I noticed about the bag was that after the paper was taken out, it was not keeping its nice shape and was dipping down in the middle. Hmmmm…is that supposed to happen?

While at the mall, I was using the shoulder strap, when you use the shoulder strap, the hand straps kinda fold down to the sides which resulted in it constantly poking me in my rib bone. Owee.

Gosh, I am not usually this picky about stuff, but I think when something is pricey, you tend to expect more out of it.

We walked around the mall for about an hour and I finally had to just stop and take this stinkin’ lead weight off my shoulder. I think there might have been an indention. Good lord, this bag is heavy!

Does this thing come with a warning?? I must have missed the fine print.

{ warning: carrying this bag may result in shoulder injury, rib breakage and general discomfort }

Who is this Michael Kors guy anyway, I googled him. He looks nice enough, but he did try to assault me with his purse. Ole Mikee might need to consider throwing in a coupon for free Orthopedic services with purchase from now on out.

I really wanted to love this purse, but sadly with it’s price tag, I just didn’t. The bag is now living back in the Micheals Kors store and waiting for its next victim. Beware~

Hey, it’s just my two cents.

What In The World Have I Been Doing?

14 Nov

Well, I will tell ya…

I have been extremely busy scoping out treasures for my Etsy shop lately, drove an hour and a half yesterday towards Atlanta for a huge estate sale, came back with some excellent stuff!

photo-711

C2k3b7q

I really haven’t been eating anything too tasty recently. I did however try some moonshine {only in the South} at a restaurant, which was weird, but enjoyable and…NO…I did not get drunk-fied and no I will not be constructing a homemade still on my property anytime soon, but I’d certainly drink it again if it becomes available.

I ran/walked my first Run or Dye 5K and didn’t “dye”! Thas good.

photo-708

I scored a Carol Bennett Liberty House Dress at the Goodwill…

photo-709

I got some cute jewelry at Rue 21 for 2 bucks a piece.

photo-710 photo-712

And last but not least, I have been wearing this hat on my head every night while I sleep! What…its warm. My husband says I look like the guy from Fat Albert that says Obee Kaybee or a jelly fish. In fact, I am wearing this hat as we speak.photo-707

So that about sums it up. Hope you have been having as much fun as I am lately. If not, start now.

Crafty Ideas from the People of the Interwebs

The people of the interwebs are so darn crafty!

Here’s a couple of ideas, I thought would be fun to DIY.

Tulle Socks

I’m a girl and I love anything with tulle and these tulle socks from Shinetrimblog are just righteous!  If you can sew a little you can make yourself a pair of these bad boys. Click here for the tutorial.

Chain Headband

6889669640_8e864295ae_oYou could totally rock this chain headband from the love Meagan blog, stand out at the beach or an outdoor concert. Yep.  Click here to see how to do it.

Back Love (Heart Cut Tee)

heart00

Simple heart cut out tee from the made in pretoria blog. This would be real cute over your swimsuit and it takes about 5 minutes to make. Click here  to make yourself one.

Graffiti Lampshade

lamp4

I love, love this idea. It comes from the chick at alittle glass box blog. She wrote a letter to her son on a piece of linen material and then covered a lampshade with it for his room. This is a super cool idea for a kids room or nursery.  Would also be awesome  for an Anniversary present, Valentines day, a newly married couple setting up house or your boyfriend. You could write your vows on it, your favorite poem, a love letter or any ole thing you feel like. Beautiful.

Beanies and Why I Love Them!

11 Sep

Oh, how I love a beanie…

Beanies give you an instant fashion edge-

Slap a beanie on and you feel like you’re an urban genius. When I wear a beanie, say to the grocery store,   It’s like I have my “cool” disguise on.  No, it’s not ME, that middle-aged housewife woman, it’s that cool young hip chic that may bust out a poem at any moment, (double snaps). It also turns any outfit from homeless to hip. (no, I don’t live on the street, I’m just cool).

They keep your head quite toasty-

I sleep in a beanie in the winter. You can be buck naked and have your beanie on and feel like a little biscuit in an oven.  It also works to keep your fro down, so you don’t look as though you’ve been attacked in your sleep.

They work as a boo boo blankie-

Now most of us don’t like to admit it, but we need a little comforting now and then.  When I’m feeling a little low,  I get instant relief  when I put on a beanie.  Beanies give my head just the little hug I need.  Awwww…head hugs are nifty and cozy. (also helps with headaches)

So many ways to wear them, so many cute styles. You gotta have at least one in the ‘ole closet.  Here are some of the beanies, I’m gonna rock this Fall.

Straight off the runway, this is a Jil Sander beanie with a veil, Hells yeah! Cost $400 but since I’m of sound mind,  I’m just gonna make one for $10.00 bucks. I bought a plain black beanie and ordered some french netting from Etsy. Click here to make one for yourself.

Rainbow brite beanie from Etsy

Gossip Girl Slouch Beanie Amazon

Cosmic beanie from Urban Outfitters

Floral Beanie Urban Outfitters

Ribbed Boyfriend beanie from ASOS

Speaking of beanies, did you ever eat beanee weenee’s as a kid or eat them currently?  They are delightfully disgusting.

Pretty Yourself Up With These!

25 Jun

Yay!!! We are no limited to Spongebob, Sesame street, or Barbie for our boo boos, ladies.  We can now pretty them up with these fancy dancy designer band aids.  What will they think of next,  perhaps some Coach maxi pads, Versace Q-tips or Stylish Piggy toothpaste…YES, can’t wait for that one.

My husband knows what time it is when it comes to fashion.  I got a package in the mail the other day and it was this cool Stussy Speaker Ballet Tee that he picked out for me.  Awwwwww…

I love the back of this shirt, it’s a mirror image of the front. Perfect for Summer:)

And lastly,  I have been prettying my nails up alot lately with this fabulous polish! The name says it all and makes me laugh out loud. This is “Uh-Oh roll down the window” by O.P.I. Its like a baby poop green or the color that you turn when you’ve had too many martini’s.

Super pretty!

Don’t forget to pretty yourself up sometime…

Curious About Moi?

9 May

They say “curiosity killed the cat”, well that’s a relief, it didn’t kill the pig, so I’m feeling pretty safe right now.

I really don’t know exactly why… but I have always been curious about other people and the lives they lead.

So, if you’re feeling curious today ….here’s a peek into mine.

My Toaster. I use this sucker daily to cook my little waffles and it puts Hello Kitty’s face on them. Awwwww…

My immortal hermit crab. I have this crab for so long, I’ve lost track of how old it is.

My personal heater. Apparently, I was born cold-blooded.

My guest bathroom, where i keep this creepy chick  behind the curtain year round to scare people. Don’t tell them, okay:)

“Bob” one of my favorite things. He hangs around in my dining room. Sometimes, I say “Hi” to him.

The Babies. I have a collection of old spooky dolls that my daughter hates. She is my favorite.

This is how I brush my teefy’s.

This is my ride, Audi Q7.  I love this car very much.

Beer of Choice: “The Chuck”

This is what I do for fun.

This is how I tell time. Tokyo Bay Cuff Watch, love this guy so much!

My husband thinks I’m beautiful.

Well, there it is in all its reality glory. Two minutes, you’ll never get back, but now you know a little somethin’.

Come on, tell me something about you!
